Born from real operations.
Not a startup idea. A problem someone had to solve.
VRS didn't start in a co-working space. It started inside Odda Technology — a Norwegian industrial company managing around 100 people across multiple sites. The operations team needed to track people, hours, compliance, and payroll without the chaos of spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
What began as an internal solution became a platform. Rune Torblå, who grew up inside the operation, spun the technology out as Visual Registration Systems (VRS) — and rebuilt it as a full workforce operating system for Nordic teams.
Today, VRS runs operations at customers across manufacturing, field service, project operations, and facility services — a Norwegian company with global engineering and delivery capacity.

Rune (33) grew up in Odda and started programming inside Odda Technology before VRS existed. To finance the engineering team without giving up ownership or rushing the product, he built a parallel real estate business — Hardanger Utleie — and used it to self-fund VRS over multiple years.
The result: a software company that's privately owned, debt-disciplined, and not chasing a quick exit. VRS is built to be here in ten years, not flipped in three.

The team's roots run a decade deep into Microsoft ERP integration — Navision, Business Central, and Finance and Operations — long before AI-era workforce tools existed.
