Not a startup idea. A problem someone had to solve.
VRS didn't start in a co-working space. It was built as an independent product from day one – developed alongside Odda Technology, a Norwegian industrial company managing around 100 people across multiple sites, which became its first customer. Their operations team needed to track people, hours, compliance and payroll without the chaos of spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
Every release was tested where it matters – on a live operation. Rune Torblå founded Visual Registration Systems as an independent company, funded it by building a real estate business alongside it, and grew VRS into a full workforce operating system for Nordic teams.

Rune grew up in Odda. VRS was built as an independent product from day one, with Odda Technology as its first customer and daily proving ground. To finance the engineering team without giving up ownership or rushing the product, he built a real estate company and used it to self-fund VRS over multiple years. The result: a software company that's privately owned, debt-disciplined, and not chasing a quick exit.
